50th Celebrations

While it’s been a year-long celebration of this special anniversary, last Saturday past and present staff, along with dignitaries and special guests, gathered to pay homage to our roots and look towards an exciting future.

On the grounds adjacent to our new Foodstore & Eatery, we reflected on our humble beginnings and the people, our people, who have helped make Barker’s of Geraldine the success it is today. Michael Barker, son of founder Anthony Barker, MC’d the formalities and read exerts from his soon-to-be-launched book, '50 Years Preserved'. Past and present staff shared recollections of bygone years, well wishes came from around the globe, there were giggles, heart-felt thanks shared, blessings, and long-serving staff were recognised for their years of dedication.

Barker’s Foodstore & Eatery was officially opened by Timaru District Mayor-Elect Nigel Bowen.
